Celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus

For God
so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to
condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:16-17

From
noon on, darkness came over the whole land until
three in the afternoon. And about three o'clock Jesus
cried with a loud voice, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?" that
is, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
When some of the bystanders heard it, they said, "This
man is calling for Elijah." At once one of them ran and got
a sponge, filled it with sour wine, put it on a stick, and
gave it to him to drink. But the others said, "Wait, let us
see whether Elijah will come to save him."

So then, after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was
received up into heaven and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and
preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs
following. .

On the
first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had
prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when
they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering
about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightening stood beside them. In
their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to
them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen!
Remember how he told you, while He was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be
delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised
again.' Then they remembered His words.
